About me

Brian Curnel is a contemporary impressionist pastel artist based in northern Alabama. Working primarily en plein air, he captures the subtle beauty of the Southern landscape through atmospheric light, shifting skies, and evocative mood.

His work focuses on rural scenes, expansive landscapes, and expressive cloudscapes, where light and atmosphere take center stage. Through a sensitive use of tone and color, Curnel creates pieces that are both atmospheric and emotive, inviting viewers into quiet, reflective moments in nature.

Curnel has exhibited in multiple art shows throughout the region and was previously a working artist at the Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment community. His experience there helped shape his artistic development and presence within the local art scene.

He is currently represented by Kathleen’s in Decatur, Alabama.
